Being asked what a tattoo means or represents, always incurs cringe.

Usually needing a long run up of ‘context’, it’s very hard to sufficiently parcel-up the rationale for choosing ‘that’ design.

A lengthy perspective is really all it needs and skimming over it quickly whilst at the urinal with a new inquisitive friend, won’t cut it. It will almost always sound corny.

In a similar vein, articulating the concept for ring designs can often feel like we are trying to agitate a scab that doesn’t yet exist OR find meaning in a design that really needs no further explanation, as it just works well aesthetically.

Both of these things are true.

The reason why… Because as always, it’s down to the wearer's experience.

Now in the case of this next release, there is significant meaning infused into the design that is timelessly relatable. And when it comes to the individual, timing is all that matters. Your experiences colliding with the period in which you’re wearing the ring.

It may represent a time in which strength is needed. Or, to our second point above, from a creative design perspective, these are elements that work very well together and with our new moderised traditional signet style, we can also appreciate that simply the aesthetics of this piece will do most of the heavy lifting.

Whatever your contextual reason for housing this signet on your paws, it’ll be the importance of your own experiences that make it special.

So let’s pick apart the design.

The heart with daggers has both a visual and historical notoriety that is quite obvious.

The representation of heartache, whether through betrayal or losing someone you love. Its imminence is life’s tragic fine print.

Framing the heart are the two seahorses.

Now, there is less unanimous clarity on what seahorses represent. There are many cultural and religious variations of meaning, however they all loiter around a similar positive feature.

In this context, they represent strength and persistence. Strength amidst turmoil and the enduring ability to handle it over time.

As simple as, Seahorse Signet.
